Would you like to own a farm animal, but don't have the space, or it isn't allowed where you live? Are you a hand spinner or weaver who would like to buy a fleece directly from its owner (the sheep) and know that you are getting a quality product with a familiar twist? Perhaps, you're a child that would like to learn about animals and how they grow.

Adopt-A-Critter is our newest program here at Spirit Hill Farm where you can adopt one or more critters from our list of available animals. We offer a variety of animals and adoption packages to meet your individual interests. We have sheep, lambs, chickens, cats and horses up for adoption. They are all beautiful, unique and friendly. Most of them have been handraised and shown by our children at fairs and shows. In addition to offering a variety of adoption packages, we also try to provide informational updates to your particular age category. This allowes the adopter to benefit the most from this unique experience!

Our child package (recommended for ages 3-9) includes a variety of items that help the child to learn about their adopted animal, as well as other farm animals. Several Standard of Learning (SOL) requirements will be covered that will help your child to better understand them. We provide tours for the schools in our area and are active in 4-H. We believe that children learn best by participation and interest. This is an ideal project for a youngster to have! Our experts are willing to answer any and all questions your child may have, so encourage them to email us and let him/her feel that they are a part of this great adventure!

Our adult package (ages 10 and older) is for the "older" child or adult. For those interested in adopting sheep or lambs, you will get the opportunity to experience the thrill and excitment of exhibiting a show animal in several sheep shows, or you might want to get a "skirted" natural fleece to spin or weave. Some of our sheep are rare and your support would help in their conservation. A few of our sheep are unique in other ways with wild stories to tell to you. In the adult package, we provide educationally informative updates based on management principles that your sheep may be experiencing at the time. This helps you to better understand what is happening, as well as, assisting in your knowledge of the sheep industry. All of our animals are part of a working agriculture program, but they are loved and handled frequently by the children on the farm.
